Kenyatta University

Applications are invited from qualified candidates for the following programmes which will be offered in
2nd semester academic year 2011/2012 commencing in January 2012.The Open and Distance Learning programmes are designed to allow students to study independently with minimal tutorial support in the following regional Centres; Nairobi, Nyeri, Mombasa, Nakuru, Embu, Kisumu, Kakamega, Garissa and Marsabit. This mode of study offers alternatives to qualified candidates who are unable to enroll in Full Time residence programmes.

1. Diploma in Public Relations


Tuition fees –
East Africans Kshs. 52,000/- p.a.
Non-East Africans Kshs. 75,000/- p.a.
Statutory fees Kshs. 19,400/- p.a.

MINIMUM ENTRY REQUIREMENTS
Mean grade of C (Plain) at KCSE or equivalent OR Mean grade of C- (Minus) at KCSE or equivalent with certificate in related field.

2.Diploma in Guidance and Counselling

Tuition fees –
East Africans Kshs. 52,000/- p.a.
Non-East Africans Kshs. 75,000/- p.a.
Statutory fees Kshs. 19,400/- p.a.

Mean grade of C (Plain) at KCSE or equivalent OR Mean grade of C- (Minus) at KCSE or equivalent with a certificate in related field.

3.Diploma in Early Childhood Care and Education

Tuition fees –
East Africans Kshs. 52,000/- p.a.
Non-East Africans Kshs. 75,000/- p.a.
Statutory fees Kshs. 19,400/- p.a.

MINIMUM ENTRY REQUIREMENTS
Mean grade of C (Plain) at KCSE Or Division III at KCE OR Mean grade of C- (Minus) with either a P1 certificate or an Early Childhood Studies certificate from a recognized Institution
 
4.Diploma in School Management

Tuition fees –
East Africans Kshs. 52,000/- p.a.
Non-East Africans Kshs. 75,000/- p.a.
Statutory fees Kshs. 19,400/- p.a.

MINIMUM ENTRY REQUIREMENTS
Mean grade of C (Plain) at KCSE or Div III at KCE OR Mean grade of C- (Minus) at KCSE or equivalent with P1 certificate OR Early Childhood Studies certificate from a recognized
 
5.a) Bachelor of Library and Information Science
b) Bachelor of Education (Library Science)
Tuition fees –
East Africans Kshs. 75,000/- p.a.
Non-East Africans Kshs. 106,250/- p.a.
Statutory fees Kshs19, 400/- p.a.

MINIMUM ENTRY REQUIREMENTS
Mean grade of C+ (Plus) at KCSE or equivalent with at least C+ (Plus) or equivalent in English OR Mean grade of C (Plain) at KCSE or equivalent with a Diploma in Library Science and/or information Science or Archives Administration.

6.Bachelor of Education (Early Childhood Education)
Tuition fees –
East Africans Kshs. 70,000/- p.a.
Non-East Africans Kshs. 100,000/- p.a.
Statutory fees Kshs19,400/- p.a.

MINIMUM ENTRY REQUIREMENTS
Mean grade of C+ (plus) at KCSE or equivalent OR Mean grade of C (plain) at KCSE or equivalent with ECE Diploma from a recognized institution or P1 certificate and two (2) years relevant experience.

7.Bachelor of Education (Arts)


Tuition fees –
East Africans Kshs. 70,000/- p.a.
Non-East Africans Kshs. 100,000/- p.a.
Statutory fees Kshs19,400/- p.a.

MINIMUM ENTRY REQUIREMENTS
Mean grade of C+ (plus) at KCSE or equivalent with at least C+ (plus) or equivalent in two subjects of career choice OR Mean grade of C (Plain) at KCSE or Division III at KCE or equivalent or one (1) Principal and one (1) Subsidiary at KACE and be holders of P1, S1, or Diploma in Education from a recognized Institution with at least two (2) years teaching experience after
 
8.Bachelor of Education (Science)


Tuition fees –
East Africans Kshs. 75,000/- p.a.
Non-East Africans Kshs. 106,250/- p.a.
Statutory fees Kshs19, 400/- p.a.

9.Mean grade of C+ (plus) at KCSE or equivalent with at least C+ (plus) or equivalent in two subjects of choice and C (plain) or equivalent in Mathematics OR Mean grade of C (Plain) at KCSE or Div. III at KCE or equivalent with P1 Certificate or Diploma in Science Education or KACE with two (2) principals and one
(1) subsidiary with at least two (2) years teaching experience. In addition, applicants must have obtained Grade C (plain) or equivalent in Mathematics at KCSE.

10.Bachelor of Science(Records Management & Information Technology)

Tuition fees –
East Africans Kshs. 75,000/- p.a.
Non-East Africans Kshs. 106,250/- p.a.
Statutory fees Kshs19, 400/- p.a.

MINIMUM ENTRY REQUIREMENTS
Mean grade of C+ (Plus) at KCSE OR Mean grade of C (Plain) at KCSE or equivalent with a Diploma in Library Science or Records and Archives Management NB: Diploma holders from recognized institutions may apply for credit waiver in consultation with their respective schools. Credit waiver application forms are obtainable on request when collecting application form or can be downloaded from Kenyatta University website at www.ku.ac.ke.

MODE OF APPLICATION
(a) Application forms can either be obtained from Kenyatta University, Admissions Block, Room No. 012, Regional Centres located in Nairobi, Embu, Nyeri, Garissa, Mombasa, Nakuru, Kisumu,
Kakamega and Marsabit or be downloaded from Kenyatta University website at www.ku.ac.ke on payment of a non-refundable fee of Kshs. 2,000/- for East Africans and Kshs. 4,000/- for applicants from outside East Africa. This money should be deposited into any one of the following accounts:

  1. I would like to request that you send us admission letters for those who qualify for July intake so that we can be able to prepare ourselves better prior to joining. For those of us in employment, we need time to present our cases to our employers for processing so that we can be able to be given time to pursue our dreams. thank you as we hope to join you soon enough.
