DURATION AND PATTERN OF MASTER’S DEGREE COURSES

Applications are invited from qualified candidates for the following Degree and Diploma programmes of Moi University in the 2011/2012 Academic Year in the School of Education at the Eldoret West, Kitale, Kericho, Southern Nyanza-Rongo, Odera Akang’o-Yala, Nairobi, and Mombasa Campuses for the August, 2011 intake.

MODE OF STUDY

1. School Based programmes:

Mondays – Saturdays 8.00a.m –7 .00 p.m (Lectures are conducted during school holidays (AUGUST/DECEMBER/APRIL).

A. BACHELOR OF EDUCATION (EARLY CHILDHOOD AND PRIMARY

EDUCATION)

Admission requirements:

i) Qualifications-

• Minimum Mean Grade of C+ at KCSE level or its equivalent OR
• ‘A’ Level with 2 principal and a subsidiary passes in the relevant subjects

OR

• A Diploma in ECD from recognized institutions (May be admitted in the 2nd year of study)
• Applicants with D+ and P1 certificates may be considered and will join 1st year of study.

ii) Fees - KES. 120,000 per year
iii) Course duration - 4 (Four) Academic Years

B. BACHELOR OF EDUCATION (GUIDANCE AND COUNSELLING)

Admission requirements:
i) Qualifications

• Minimum Mean Grade of C+ at KCSE or ‘A’ Level with 2 principal and a subsidiary passes in two teaching subjects

OR

• A Diploma in Counselling Psychology from recognized institutions (May be admitted in the 2nd year of study)

ii) Fees - KES. 120,000 per year
iii) Course duration - 4 (Four) Academic Years

C. BACHELOR OF EDUCATION (ARTS)

Admission requirements:

i) Qualifications

Admission requirements:
i) Qualifications
• Minimum Mean Grade of C+ at KCSE and have at least Grade C+(plus) in English, C+(plus) in Mathematics and a C+ in Business Studies (or its equivalent) or ‘A’ Level with 2 principal and a subsidiary passes in the relevant subjects

OR

• A Diploma in any of the fields of Business Studies (May be admitted in the 2nd year of study)
OR
• CPA II or CPS II certificates of the Kenya Accountants and Secretaries National Examinations Board (KASNEB) applicants may join 1st year of study.
ii) Fees - Ksh. 120,000/= per year
iii) Course duration - 4 (Four) Academic Years

G. DIPLOMA IN EARLY CHILDHOOD DEVELOPMENT AND PRIMARY

EDUCATION

Admission requirements:
i) Qualifications

• Minimum Mean Grade of C- (minus) at KCSE or its equivalent
OR
• A P1 certificate
OR
• A Kenya National Examinations Council (KNEC) certificate in Early Childhood Education or its equivalent.

ii) Fees - KES. 60,000/= per year
iii) Course duration - 2 (Two) Academic Years

H. POST GRADUATE DIPLOMA IN EDUCATION (PGDE) SCHOOL - BASED AT

ELDORET WEST CAMPUS ONLY

Admission requirements:
i) Qualifications

• Holders of a Bachelors Degree of Moi University with two relevant teaching subjects or its equivalent.

ii) Course Duration - 1(One) Academic Year

Fees - KES 93,450 per year



I. EXECUTIVE MASTER OF EDUCATION (M. Med.) DEGREE IN

LEADERSHIP AND POLICY IN EDUCATION

Admission Requirements:

i) Qualifications

• A Bachelor of Education (B. Ed) Degree of Moi University or its equivalent.
• Must be Principals, Deputy Principals, Heads of Departments of Schools, Colleges, Institutes of Education, Education Officers or NGO Officers involved in Education or

Practitioners with at least 5 years teaching experience in educational institutions.

ii) Fees - KES. 109,700 per semester

Course Duration - 1 (One) Academic Year

J. MASTER OF PHILOSOPHY PROGRAMMES

• A Bachelor’s Degree with at least a lower second class honors with a Post-Graduate Diploma in Education (PGDE) or its equivalent recognized by Moi University with at least 2 years teaching experience and a minimum grade B in the

area of specialization.

ii) Course Duration - 2 (Two) Academic Years
Fees - KES 137, 200 per year



K. DOCTOR OF PHILOSOPHY PROGRAMMES

Admission requirements:

(i) A Master of Philosophy Degree in Education of Moi University or its equivalent from a recognized university. Teaching experience will be an added advantage.

iii) Fees - Ksh 132,000/= per year
